Festivals of the British Countryside: Bucks County Show 2018

It’s been a peculiar year for weather. A prolonged wet winter followed by snow in April and now the hottest, driest spell since 1976. If like us here at Michael Graham you’re struggling to keep cool, then spare a thought for the farmers worried about their crops and livestock in these extraordinary temperatures.

Fortunately, the heatwave hasn’t hampered plans for the Bucks County Show which takes place on Thursday 30th August and we’re thrilled to have a Michael Graham stand at the show ground just north of Aylesbury for the 7th year running.

A true celebration of the best of English country life, The Bucks County Show is one of Buckinghamshire’s main summer attractions.  At Michael Graham we’ve noticed an increasing number of people hobby farming, and a country show offers a great opportunity to pick up some advice from the experts.  Prepare for a full day out.  Gates open at 8am with a packed schedule of demonstrations, competitions and performances until the show closes at 6pm.  Horse lovers will be in their element watching the show jumping and 70 different classes showcasing immaculately turned out horses and ponies.  In other rings, 80 cattle classes and 40 sheep classes will see the best of British livestock paraded in all their glory in front of an estimated 25,000 visitors.  And if it grows, it goes on show, so you’ll be able to feast your eyes on the finest examples of crops and vegetables. Shoppers will be in heaven too, more than 200 trade stands are expected.

Calling all 007 fans out there! Our Michael Graham stand this year has an Aston Martin DB2 classic car as the star of the show, alongside a rather more rustic Horsebox bar serving everything from prosecco to Pimm’s and soft drinks. Candy floss and a coconut shy are guaranteed to keep children of all ages amused, James Bond fans or otherwise.  Head online to www.buckscountyshow.co.uk for advanced, reduced priced tickets.  You won’t find a more quintessentially English, fun, family day out so please do come along and toast the summer with us.
