‘Tottering By’ at the Bucks County Show!
With the summer weather upon us, where better to be than the great British countryside? The idyllic scenery and fresh air are a draw for the most hardcore of city dwellers, and our patch of green and pleasant land is no different.
Being little more than a stone’s throw from the capital, many a London couple and family are attracted to our region and all it has to offer, and many stay for the long haul. This scenario is captured humorously by famed artist Annie Tempest’s ‘Tottering-by-Gently style’ cartoons, depicting the quirky side of life in the country. Her well-known Tottering-by-Gently cartoons are regularly featured in Countrylife magazine.
At Michael Graham, we’re huge fans of Annie and her work – so in homage, our stand at this year’s Bucks County Show will be in the theme of her much-loved animations and based on the cartoons she has drawn for us.
The annual show takes place on Thursday 1 September and promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family. Our ‘Tottering By’-themed stall should be at the top of your must-visit list: it will feature many the things we love about the countryside, including delicious beef rolls, hearty game, tasty pies and artisan cheeses. You can wash your country fayre down with Pimms or ale, which we’ll be serving from throughout the day.
The kids can drop by and say hello to our guest of honour – a beautiful Shetland pony: so there’s something for everyone. And to top off the day’s proceedings, we’ll be running a competition to win an original Annie Tempest watercolour – featured in Countrylife magazine. With so much going on, you can’t afford to miss it!
So come along and see us at the Bucks County Show on Thursday at Weedon Park, between 8am and 6pm. For more information and tickets, click here.
