Interview with Megan Wright, Head of Marketing at Michael Graham

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The first IWD gathering was in 1911 and was supported by over a million people. To celebrate this day we asked our head of marketing Megan Wright five questions about her career as a women in the world of marketing and estate agency.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Hi, I’m Megan Wright, Head of Marketing at Michael Graham. I’ve been in the marketing industry for a decade this year, working across diverse sectors including estate agency, finance, and leisure. I specialise in strategic marketing, branding, and campaign execution, with a passion for creating impactful initiatives that drive business growth. At Michael Graham, I lead a fantastic team, ensuring our brand is at the forefront of the market through innovative digital and print campaigns, events, and strategic partnerships.

What is your proudest achievement while working at Michael Graham?

One of my proudest achievements has been leading the redesign of the Michael Graham website, which has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding projects of my career. Michael Graham is a brand that stands out in the estate agency world, we don’t conform to traditional norms. Instead, we focus on portraying an aspirational lifestyle, not just selling incredible homes but showcasing the way of life that comes with them.

This project has been particularly significant as we celebrate Michael Graham’s 60th year. The unveiling of the website has to be 100% perfect, striking the right balance between preserving the essence of the brand while also elevating and modernizing its presence. It’s been a meticulous process, ensuring that every detail reflects our legacy while pushing the brand forward into an exciting new era. I can’t wait to see it go live!

Which women inspire you the most?

The women in my life inspire me every single day, all in different ways.

At work, I am constantly motivated by the incredible women in my team. Tash, a talented designer and young mum, continues to balance motherhood and her career with such grace and determination. In the past, she might have felt pressured to put her career on hold, but she refused to conform to outdated expectations. Instead, she proves daily that you can be an amazing mother and a standout creative professional.

Eden, who started at Michael Graham in her first marketing role, has faced challenges that could have easily knocked her confidence. But rather than letting those moments define her, she’s taken every opportunity to grow and develop. She’s come out stronger, fighting for herself and her abilities, and I couldn’t be prouder of her resilience and courage.

Then there’s Fran, the youngest member of our marketing department, but you’d never know it from the confidence and initiative she brings to the team. She’s a reminder that younger women in marketing are finding their voices and making an impact, and that is so encouraging to see.

Outside of work, one of the most inspirational women in my life is my friend Donna. She runs a dog training school that I attend with my dogs, and her dedication to helping both people and animals is truly admirable. She’s faced criticism, jealousy, and unfair challenges throughout her career, but she has never let that stop her from doing what she believes in. Her positivity, even in the hardest times, is something I deeply respect. She’s a true example of what it means to stand strong, believe in yourself, and keep pushing forward, no matter what others think.

These women all inspire me in different ways, but the common thread between them is their strength, resilience, and determination to succeed on their own terms. And that’s exactly what International Women’s Day is all about.

How do you motivate and inspire your team, and which qualities do you think are most important as a manager?

I believe that empowerment and collaboration are key to building a strong team. I encourage open communication, making sure everyone feels heard and valued. Setting clear goals, celebrating wins, and providing professional growth opportunities keep motivation high.

As a leader, I prioritise:

  • Creativity – Encouraging innovative thinking and new approaches.
  • Adaptability – The marketing landscape is always changing; being flexible is crucial.
  • Supportiveness – A strong team is built on trust and mentorship.
  • Resilience – Challenges arise, but how we respond defines our success.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #AccelerateAction, what does this mean to you?

For me, #AccelerateAction is about actively pushing for progress, not just discussing it. In marketing and estate agency—industries historically dominated by men in leadership roles—creating pathways for women’s growth is essential.

This means:

  • Championing diversity in hiring and leadership
  • Encouraging women to step into decision-making roles
  • Supporting professional development through mentorship and training
  • Challenging outdated stereotypes and biases in the workplace
  • By sharing knowledge, lifting others up, and advocating for real change, we can create a more inclusive and equal future.

If I were to give any advice for women aspiring to leadership roles in marketing I would say:

Believe in your abilities, speak up, and seize opportunities. The marketing world thrives on fresh ideas, so don’t be afraid to make your voice heard. Network, upskill, and find mentors who inspire you. Most importantly, support other women in the industry, we rise by lifting each other up.Happy International Women’s Day! 💜
