Property description

A Grade II listed 1930s property, part of a converted country house with a unique history, with four bedrooms, a garage and parking and a total plot of approximately 3 acres.

Little Horwood Manor was the last major country house built in England during the last century. It is in the Art Deco style made popular by Edwin Lutyens and is mentioned in the Pevsner architectural guide. During World War II it was used as an intelligence centre associated with Bletchley Park. The Manor was renovated and converted into separate dwellings during 1984. The property is approached via a tree lined drive set amid 2.7 acres of communal grounds. To the side and rear of the house is approximately 3 acres of mature private gardens with a tennis court and a timber framed double garage all backing onto farmland. The accommodation over three floors includes a drawing room, a farmhouse kitchen, cloakroom and a study. The first floor has two bedrooms. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom and separate dressing room with bespoke fitted furniture. The other bedroom has walk-in wardrobes and an en suite. The second floor has two bedrooms, both with en suite facilities.

Kitchen/Dining Room

The kitchen/dining room is the original Manor library and retains oak bookshelves and an oak fronted dresser. It has a range of base units with marble work surfaces, an oil Aga, an enamel butler sink, and limestone flooring. There is an oak door to a utility cupboard and a further door to a walk-in larder which has space for a fridge/freezer.

The private gardens measure approximately 3 acres and are laid to lawn with a pond, established shrubs and trees, an orchard area, and a terraced area with views over surrounding farmland. A five bar gate leads to the detached timber double garage and side garden which has a tennis court screened by Yew hedge. There is a public footpath on the boundary edge which leads across the fields to the village, pub and church.
