What's on - Michael Graham Calendar of Events Summer 2022

A summer packed full of events is on the horizon at last. Here’s a round-up of some unmissable family days out and social and sporting events in and around the Michael Graham region:

May

Bedford Regatta 7 May

One of the largest single day river regattas in the country. For the 156th consecutive year rowers will race through the heart of the town on the picturesque River Great Ouse.

Grafton Point to Point 15 May

Pack a picnic and enjoy pony and horse racing at Edgcote Race Course near Banbury with stalls and attractions for all the family.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show 24 - 28 May

The world’s greatest flower show returns with stunning garden designs, gorgeous floral displays and endless shopping.

Herts County Show 28 - 29 May

From Shetland racing to shopping, motor bike stunt riders to dogs and ducks, the Herts Show Ground in Redbourn has them in spades.

Colourscape, Waddesdon Manor 28 May - 5 June

Returning for its eighth year, Colourscape is a world of intense light, colour and space throughout 56 interlinked chambers, with unusual musical experiences along the way.

Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday 2 - 5 June

Details of over 1000 public events and 1400 street parties across the country have been shared on the official website so far.

Buckingham Literary Festival 24 - 26 June

This three-day celebration of books, poetry and drama welcomes a host of acclaimed authors and speakers.

Royal Ascot 14 - 18 June

Revered world-wide and attended by the Queen, Royal Ascot is a racing and social calendar highlight.

Wimbledon 27 June - 10 July

The oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world.

Henley Royal Regatta 28 June - 3 July

Best enjoyed with a glass of Pimms from the banks of the Thames.

Formula 1 British Grand Prix, Silverstone 1 - 3 July

After record-breaking attendance in 2021, The Formula 1 British Grand Prix is the biggest and fastest sporting event in the UK and for Formula One fans, the highlight of the F1 year.

Newport Pagnell Carnival 2 - 3 July

The biggest and oldest running Carnival in Milton Keynes is belatedly celebrating their 60th birthday with two days of live music, stalls, classic cars, a dog show and a duck race.

Princes Risborough Town Festival, Marlow 9 July

A fun-filled family day with stalls, great music and delicious food.

Qatar Goodwood Festival 26 - 30 July

The world-famous five-day flat-racing festival, affectionately known as Glorious Goodwood.

Bedford River Festival 23 - 24 July

Dragon boat and raft races on the river and music stages and a funfair across the Embankment, Mill Meadows and St Mary’s Gardens.

 

August

Blakesley Show 6 August

A quintessential rural day out. An array of equestrian, livestock and trade exhibitors plus a gymkhana make this 137th annual show a must for lovers of the country life.

Monster Energy British Grand Prix MOTOGP, Silverstone 5 - 7 August

A family friendly festival weekend based around a prestigious bike championship.

 

September

Bucks County Show 1 September

One of the best one-day agricultural shows in the country with 60 cattle classes, 30 sheep classes and some of the most talented show jumpers in the county.

Kop Hill Climb 24 - 25 September

This festival in Princes Risborough is a celebration of the history of motoring and a chance to get up close to some priceless rare cars and bikes, all in aid of raising money for local good causes.
