Background and Heritage
Planned and built by the current owners, Stowe Court was inspired by the regency architect John Nash and in particular the style of Sandridge Park in Devon. The property was completed in 2011 and bears hallmark features of Nash architecture such as stuccoed Italianate styling with a tower, pillars, low pitch slate roof and arched sash windows. Stowe Court has imposing entrance gates with a tree lined drive and the layout is designed so that the principle rooms overlook the south facing terraces and landscaped grounds.
About the house
Stowe Court has been built with modern convenience in mind including Cat5 wiring, Wi-Fi, closed circuit TV security system, under floor heating throughout and a central vacuum system.
Reception Hall and Dining Room
The reception hall is of note, with a pillared semi-circular opening into the elegant dining room and also a sweeping staircase to the first floor.
Further Reception Rooms
The drawing room is a most impressive room with good proportions and windows overlooking the gardens. Double doors from the drawing room open into the orangery with further double doors opening onto the terrace and gardens. Off the drawing room also lies the large double aspect games room/gymnasium which opens into the study with windows overlooking the driveway.
Kitchen/Family Room and Utility Rooms
The kitchen is a light, double aspect room, well equipped with granite work surfaces, an electric three door Aga, additional electric oven and a ceramic induction hob. There are also fridge drawers and an oval central unit. The kitchen opens into the breakfast area. Beyond the kitchen is a boot room, a pantry, a further store room and a utility room.
The galleried landing provides access to all five bedrooms. The master bedroom suite is in the round tower and has a feature cupola ceiling as well as views over the grounds and lakes. There is also a dressing area and a four piece en suite bathroom. The main guest bedroom has a balcony terrace overlooking the gardens, fitted cupboards and a three piece en suite bathroom. There are three further bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom and also a further Jack and Jill bathroom.
Gardens and Grounds
The grounds of Stowe Court have been carefully landscaped including a Cyprus tree lined driveway, terracing to the rear and side of the house, a kitchen garden, formal and informal lawns, spring fed lakes and a range of mature trees including Poplars, Beech, Limes, Silver Birch and also a rare Wollemi pine.
Garage and Parking
To the east of Stowe Court there is a block paved courtyard that has double wooden gates providing secondary vehicle access. There is also a detached triple garage with electric doors.
The cottage comprises a kitchen/sitting room, a utility room, two bedrooms and a shower room.
