Kitchen Creative

To quote an old saying, a clean kitchen is a sign of a wasted life. That’s until you have a property for sale, and then it’s all systems go to make it one where Mary Berry would be happy rustling up a Victoria sponge. Be it a rustic country haven or the coolest room in the house, your kitchen is the most valuable room you have for impressing potential buyers.

But don’t think about a complete refit just yet. Check out these simple and effective top tips for making sure the hub of your home has the wow factor.

  1. Grab a paintbrush and spruce up any paintwork on walls and kitchen cabinets. The 2017 trend for kitchen colour schemes is grey and earthy tones, and to be doubly on-trend, go two-tone with a feature piece of furniture painted in a complementary colour.
  2. Mix up your metals. Stainless steel is still popular, but the current trend is for more gold, rose and black tones, so try small changes of copper coloured handles, accessories and appliances.
  3. The Scandinavians have taught us the importance of minimalism, so hide your gadgets away in a cupboard. Decluttering is king and your property for sale will thank you.
  4. Bring the outside in with fresh flowers or jump on the current craze for high quality fake flowers. No one will know.

Except for high days and holidays, most families don’t eat in the dining room anymore so the kitchen should feel stylish enough for entertaining, yet welcoming and practical for everyday use. And size really isn’t everything. Not all kitchens will have space for a central island or breakfast bar but don’t hold that against them. As in life, it’s all about making the most of what you do have.
