Get out and about this June

Recent weather might belie the fact, but summer is here at last, and for most families that means one thing: getting out and about for day trips and local events.

So we’ve brought together some family-friendly dates for your diary, so you can enjoy what the region has to offer this month.

Soulbury Soulfest – Saturday 18 June, 1pm to 7pm

The annual music event is back on Saturday 18 June to raise money for SMG and East Anglia Air Ambulance. Held at Soulbury Millennium Green, this is a must-see for music lovers. This year’s line-up includes Dizzie, The PommyGranites, Saskia, Kebab Shop Lollipop and Keeziah, as well as a tea and cake stall, refreshments, a BBQ, children’s games and a charity raffle.

Shillington Summer Fete – Saturday 25 June, 2pm to 4pm

The pretty village of Shillington hosts its summer fete on Saturday 26 June at Parsonage Farm. Motoring enthusiasts can enjoy the classic car display, while ‘hurl a wellie’ and china smashing will keep the rest of the family amused. With children’s games, hot dogs, cakes – and Pimm’s for the grown-ups – there’s something for everyone.

The Haynes Village 100 Festival of Motoring – Sunday 26 June, from 11am

Celebrating motoring over the last 100 years, the 10th annual event takes place on the playing field adjacent to the village hall. More than 100 classic vehicles will parade the 2.7 mile circuit of the village’s roads, alongside a static display and a village gala with stalls, displays and family activities.
