Win Green-fingered Inspiration for Spring!

An attractive and spacious garden is on many a house hunter’s list of must-haves. Some desire an outdoor area for pets and children to run around and let off some steam; others seek a haven in which to relax with a glass of wine and take in the best of British summers; while the green-fingered among us may want a mature and bountiful plot to nurture.

Whatever you’re looking for in your outdoor space, at Michael Graham we have a multitude of properties offering gorgeous gardens to suit the most discerning tastes. And, if you’re hoping to use a little creativity and put your own stamp on things, the good news is that there are some fantastic local spots from which to draw inspiration.

One example is The Swiss Garden in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, which has been recognised for its impressive architecture and design and is among 15 entries battling it out in the Royal Institute of British Architects East Awards 2015.

As well as the striking structural components of The Swiss Gardens, the 10-plus acres of 19th century landscape showcase all manner of popular and rare shrubs and trees, plants from all over the world, ponds with intricate ironwork bridges, a fernery and grotto. If you visit in the coming weeks, you’ll be greeted by a beautiful throng of daffodils that are sprouting up at the moment.

If an alternative take on horticulture is up your street, then be sure to mark on your calendar the upcoming RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The ever-popular annual event features a number of exciting show gardens, from the traditional to the contemporary and unique. Our top picks for May’s event include:

The Brewin Dolphin Garden: featuring elevated stepping stones made from 40,000 pieces of hand-cut slate, rising above the flowing stream and interspersed with ferns, aquilegia and bleeding heart.

The Hidden Beauty of Kranji: inspired by the Kranji suburb of Singapore, visitors can take in the tropical display of palms, orchids, and a cascading waterfall.

The Telegraph Garden: reflecting a geometric design, this show space is marked by coloured blocks and scaled waterways, with vertical detail provided by trees and hedges.

With so many reasons to start thinking about your garden space, we’re giving away two tickets for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show on Saturday 23rd May. Here’s how to be in with a chance of bagging the tickets:
